Tannoy Fits the Bill at Luxury Austrian Hotel

The Lindner Seepark Hotel is one of the most luxurious new hotels to open in Austria, located on the shores of Lake Worthsee by Klagenfurt in the south of the country close to the border with Slovenia. The distinctive looking four-star conference and spa hotel, clad in an ultra modern aluminium skin, opened to its first guests at start of July with a grand opening later in the month. The new premium standard destination hotel has nearly 100 Tannoy loudspeakers installed, including small format CVS and CMS in-ceiling speakers as well as Di5 full-range wall mounted speakers.
Installed by Graz based AV integrators Pichler Medientechnik, the choice of Tannoy loudspeakers was driven by some good previous experience with the products in similar hotel installations, as company owner Gerhard Pichler explains: "We used Tannoy's CMS 801 and CMS 801Sub in a recent installation at Hotel Marriot Wien Messe, realising full coverage of the main conference room with only those speakers. They provide optimum audio quality throughout and are capable of handling anything required of them including BGM, presentation sound and speech."
"With Tannoy, there's a great cost to performance ratio, and with such a wide range of products available, you can be sure of specifying the perfect loudspeaker for almost any given situation," Pichler continues, clearly sold on the Scottish manufacturer's long standing heritage in high quality audio solutions.
Boasting 146 single and double bedrooms, a wellness and sauna area, conference facilities, fitness club and ‘a la carte' restaurant, the Lindner Seepark Hotel presented a range of different challenges when it came to specifying an audio system. Tannoy's highly versatile CVS4 in-ceiling speaker was used throughout the public entrance area, lounge, banquet space, restaurant and buffet room, fitness rooms and even the swimming pool and sauna areas. Designed to deliver the best possible performance / price balance, the CVS4 features a point-source driver arrangement comprising of 19mm HF section co-axially mounted on a 100mm (4") mid-bass woofer, delivering a highly controlled coverage pattern with constant directivity and intelligibility - in short, superior audio performance over similarly priced alternatives on the market. CVS4s also incorporate a 30W low insertion loss transformer with various industry standard tappings for both 70v and 100v distributed systems such as here at Lindner Seepark, where they're powered by BIAMP MCA series amplifiers.
Where there was a specific requirement for very high quality audio or difficult acoustic challenges, the installer turned to Tannoy's award-winning CMS401 DCe ‘eyeball' loudspeaker with its swivelling mount and Dual Concentric point-source driver. Featuring a closed back can, the easy-fit CMS401 DCe is very cost effective and makes for the perfect problem-solver in situations where audio coverage needs to be controlled and directed away from room boundaries or onto specific zones. The WideBand titanium dome high frequency unit in the Dual delivers an exceptionally detailed and open sound stage for unrivalled intelligibility while the extended bandwidth gives percussive sounds more reality and impact, with vocals and instruments clearly more separate and distinct - ideal for applications where musical quality is an important part of experiencing that space such as hotel's first class restaurant.
Elsewhere, Pichler installed Tannoy's ultra stylish surface-mount Designer Install series, with 4 x Di5t located in the banquet room. Available in textured black or white painted finish, with matching rubber trims, the Di Series enclosures comprise of outstandingly durable and scuff resistant, high impact polystyrene (HIPS), with subtle curves designed to be inconspicuous and blend with any interior décor. Chosen for their ease of install, good looks and exceptional reliability (The ICT drive unit addresses the two most common component failures experienced in BGM and sound reinforcement systems, the tweeter and the crossover reliability.) as well as their highly coherent, even acoustic coverage - important considering the banquet space is to be used for business/conference presentations from time to time. The Di5t variant installed here has an integrated transformer with variable tappings for use on a distributed system.
