Alcons Audio Moves Up a Gear

With a very successful ABTT Theatre Show in London and Cinema Expo convention in Amsterdam behind us, Alcons has stepped into the second half of 2008 and at the same time into the next five years of the growth of something beautiful," says the company's Tom Back.

"The past five years turned out to be much more than just proving our reason for existence in this seemingly crowded market, with a surprisingly fast expansion of Alcons pro-ribbon ambassadors around the globe," he continues. "The best is yet to come, so we're shifting Alcons into the next gear, with increased investments in R&D, support and partnerships!"

The LR14/90 ultra-compact pro-ribbon line-array is now shipping. Identically equipped as the LR14/120, but now with the 800W RBN401 pro-ribbon HF driver on 90-degree Alutec wave-guide, the LR14/90 is designed for (even) longer throw and controlled projection in more narrow applications. Very precise projection and throw control in combination with HiFi at concert SPL's.

Alcons' amplifier Digital Drive Processor module has received upgraded V1.5 firmware, with a range of new settings and features: LR14/90 line-array presets (a.o. array-length optimisation, stacked/flown configuration); BF181/362 subwoofer presets with selectable response settings ("sub", "bass" and "punch"); Cardiod subwoofer presets and futher optimized phase-responses.

Over six months underway (and running!), with around 400.000 tickets sold, Ciske de Rat - the musical is the most successful travelling Dutch musical ever. At the recent Musical Awards Gala 2008, this musical scored another record with seven awards out of the 13 nominations. Not surprising then that this production is touring with an Alcons LR14 line-array system, with BF sub's and powered/controlled by Amplified Loudspeaker Controllers.

In Austria, the event dome of the international headquarters of Red Bull, called ‘Hangar 7', received a state-of-the-art sound system, with semi-permanent Alcons QR36 5m. line-source columns on purpose-designed stands - powered and controlled by ALC's, with Trinnov outboard optimizing processing. Total project design and realization was by Pro Performance of Austria.

A large number of LR14 and LR14B line-array systems were recently installed in Malaysia's Tertutup stadium. The indoor stadium, located in Kuala Terengganu, was finished just in time for the Sukan Malaysian (‘SUKMA') Games 2008. No less than 14 arrays are driven by same number of ALC2 amplified loudspeaker controllers with SDP processing and Dolby Lake system control. Total project design and realization was by Hybrid Junction of Malaysia.

Other recent projects include: Buddha Bar Beirut Lebanon, Hamburg's Thalia Theater and Schmid's Tivoli, Volkswagen car manufacturer Dresden, Fraunhofer Institute Germany, Pathé Cinema group and Landestheater St.Pölten Austria, to name just a few.

The Ribbon Network continues to expand around the globe> Alcons report that members are stocking-up from the factory's dry-hire support for the festival season. Recent gigs performed through Alcons pro-ribbon line-arrays include: James Taylor tour, CEBIT 2008, X-factor, Britain's Got Talent, European Championship Swimming, Dutch Musical Awards Gala, etc.
