Slick Operation Opens in The Netherlands

In a significant acknowledgement of its premier position in the European marketplace, Slick International has established a new permanent manufacturing base in Leeuwarden, Nederlands. Slick International B.V. will henceforth be the headquarters of all Slick operations and will open for business on 1st June with its newly appointed MD Conrad Vegter at the helm.

Vegter comes to Slick with much useful experience; from his early days in ship building and industrial heavy lifting, he has in the last four years built a solid market for Prolyft hoists, a US product virtually unknown before his intervention.

“I have similar ambitions for Slick,” said Vegter. “Everybody knows Slick. It was one of the first truss systems to establish a brand identity in the world, built on a reputation for quality and engineered excellence. My aim is to build a new, comprehensive dealer network, extending what we already have into every single country in Europe; and then do the same for the wider international markets in the Far East, Middle East, Africa, Americas and Australia.”

Advantages for new and existing customers include modern, state of the art production facilities. “With the automation and material handling functions we have built into the new factory we can provide all dealer demands and maintain enough capacity to face a sudden growth,” said Vegter. “The north of Holland is home to some of the biggest truss manufacturers in the world so the expertise and skills reservoir is enormous.”

The total investment by parent company Total Solutions Group (TSG) and its partners is approximately half a million Euros. “New and innovative welding procedures will see Slick equal or exceed its reputation for quality and strength,” said TSG’s MD Chris Cronin. “These new premises represent a leap in technology, and re-birth of the Slick brand.”
